GURUS & TEACHERS 'Guru' - from the language of Sanskrit in India means teacher, guide, expert or master but definitely more than your average teacher. In India it is a person to be revered, having attained high spiritual knowledge, and one who can impart it, both physically and energetically. There is a sacred relationship or bond with them considered even higher than one's family as it supposedly divine in nature. You will come across many teachers, guides, mentors and the like throughout your life experience. Depending on how conscious and awakened you are your parents will tend to be the first ones. You can learn from your environment, from nature, from movies and literature but we will be exploring the roles in others as they touch your life in some way. We will also be observing some of the pitfalls and traps in this undertaking on all sides. Straight up... Your connection to the Divine, Your Source, The Universe, Soul or God is yours, not someone elses. You don't need an intermediary. You will however meet many beings along the way, physical and even non-physical, who may act as guides or teachers that can offer advice and bestow knowledge. The choice is up to you though. Some people do have greater clarity and have pierced more of the veil to see a bigger picture. They may even hold space for you to experience higher vibrational states, to awaken something for you to become aware of or to facilitate in processing something that you are currently working on. This can happen due to the strength and frequency of their energy field. Yet, they would most likely do their best to 'allow'. Allow you your own mistakes, trials and tribulations unless there is a reason to interject, such as you asking for some assistance, them having a contract to do so, or even possibly to avoid a fatal accident that is not meant for you. Everyone has a different flavour or personality. Some people might be more adept at reaching you or precise aspects of yourself than others. You will be led to certain people for specific reasons, whether it be contracts, karma, learning, manipulation or a shared purpose. Find those that you resonate with the most and explore from there. Sometimes your guru/teacher/mentor may be a charlatan on numerous levels but may still have something valid to offer you for where you are at. It will be up to you to discern when you are being duped or when it is time to leave. They may also be the ones who are being manipulated on some level so what they teach is becoming corrupted or infiltrated... it does unfortunately happen. Cults would be considered the dark side of subject. This will continue until a large portion of the thoughtforms around manipulation have been cleared from the collective consciousness of humanity and enough people 'wake up' to what is really going on. Other times you may have very legit instructors but it is you, your own ego and programming, lack of knowledge or understanding, perhaps even life circumstances that gets in the way of you progressing with them. You may learn it elsewhere, differently or even the same way when you are more receptive. On a positive note, you may remain friends with some of these wonderful beings for a lifetime and beyond. If you find yourself getting caught up in the whole, "guru says this, guru says that, guidance, guru or teacher says do this", you might be falling into a trap, under a spell or illusion, or have given up your power. Yes, your 'guidance' can be manipulated, see the article 'Targeted Individuals'. Just simply take stock and see what resonates with you. They may indeed be providing you with a valid path even if you choose to ignore it... but it will be your truth and choice in that moment. Follow your own path and truth. Many people want to be like their guru, 'Jesus' or other such 'saints' and that is a very noble ideal... but... they may not be at a level to operate like that yet. If anger is coming up or right there in your face then suppressing that energy might be one of the worst things you can do despite your attempts at trying to feign righteousness. It might be urging you to look at something. Be honest with yourself. You can still follow that path but acknowledge what is going on within your internal and external worlds. That way you are following your truth to that particular ideal, the very thing that you would like to create or emulate. Some of these teachers or gurus can actually limit you, mislead you or hold you back from your own true potential that you yourself are supposed to tap into. Especially if you are holding on too long. Loyalty is honourable but don't be afraid to branch out if there are areas that are not being covered which you personally need to work on. You don't have to be 'initiated' or 'activated' by guru or whoever. It is true that more actualized evolved beings (meaning that they have embodied higher frequencies and are able hold it on a constant or more consistent basis) can help to heal, repair and recalibrate your field while holding the space for you to reconnect to your 'higher' aspects or strengthen your own connection. This 'pledge', oath or initiation is not necessary though and does not mean that you are any more or less devoted to your path. Some of the worst that I have seen are Reiki practitioners and masters proclaiming that their students have to be activated so the energy can flow... please. They use symbols that they don't understand and some of those Reiki attuned crystals can have some of the most horrific energy in them. Pay attention and use your feeling/intuitional state. Loss of Power to these people and beings. Remember that they are guides. Do not give all of your power and decision making over to these people or beings. They do not have all of the answers and they are not walking in your truth or path. They have their own, even if your goals are the same or intertwined. This whole concept transfers over to organizations. I have watched firsthand how students and followers get drawn into the drama of their teacher's truth and lingo. It is not necessarily a bad thing but just something to be aware of. A question to ask would be "is it yours or theirs?". You may have a higher reason to be there like clearing things that the group is working on, learning and expanding your knowledge base or to evolve beyond something. Just be aware of what is going on becuase there can be a trickle-down effect. By engaging in the group you are participating in a group energy field and many things both wanted and unwanted can go along with that, including getting completely swept up by it or becoming compromised by the infiltration of harmful energies. There are layers and levels to this stuff. I have personally seen the head of a spiritual organization, tapping into and hijacking the sexual energy of several individuals inside and outside of the organization yet the majority of information that they are bringing forth can still be quite beneficial for all. It may be presonal karma, something working through them or things playing out from another time but it is harmful, manipulative and active none the less, without their awareness of it. In another group many people were getting energetically attacked and compromised while others were continually being kicked out, yet the 'leaders' were doing quite well. Sometimes those at the 'top' don't realize that they are still working through things and have some bits of 'ego' or openings left which can create avenues for exploitation or blindspots in their awareness. They might have to get 'checked' in one way or another. Gurus & Teachers. You play a very important role in the lives of others, helping to shape them and have the responsibility of providing accurate information for these people to digest and work with. Part of your job is to be honest with where you are at. Even with pressures from inside or outside of the group, or student base itself, know when to back off slightly to clear things up or get further education. It is admirable to move forth in adversity or in a compromised state but if the information you are providing becomes tainted in some way because of it then it is not worth it. It is about the information but the inner work also has to be done. I go off a bit on healers and teachers who just don't know their stuff in the article on 'Healing'. My whole article on a 'Tribe of One' should be basic or foundational knowledge for everyone who is a healing facilitator/practitioner on the deeper energetic levels. Many people like to give lip service about healing and topics of all kinds but when it comes to their own inner work and awareness, you can tell there is something lacking. Having opinions are fine but action counts for much more. People sometimes feel forced to do things before they are 'ready' (not saying you have to be at a certain 'readiness' level as situations don't always work that way). Whether it is pressure from a group, a cause, to get money, etc. You will manifest things at your 'level' of schooling plus some interesting 'goodies' on the side. Sometimes you just have to work with what you have and create more ideal situations. There are occasions when your 'gamble' pays off... but are you 'ready' for what comes next? Do not put on the facade of being 'spiritual', be honest. When I was in India some 25 years ago and in the town of Rishikesh, I went looking for some vegetables. When inquiring as to the whereabouts of garlic and onion with the vegetable vendors, many were saying (including the swamis) that garlic and onion promotes desire so they do not sell it. What?... Even though I get what they saying, they know full well the medicinal benefits of them though. Oddly and embarrassingly enough at night you would have some black market vegetable vendors selling the garlic and onions and some of those same Babas would be purchasing said products. The point here is to be honest with oneself and to recognize when you have become compromised. Things can and will work through your field. Whether it be subtle thoughts or emotions steering you a certain way, harmful energies that can corrupt your teachings or using your energy and field to anchor things into others. Being a leader/teacher especially one of a 'spiritual' nature at this particular time is serious business. We should absoultely have some fun but we have to be extra vigilant as well. There are times when important information has to get out there, we get it, but not at the cost of having that very information tainted and distorted on some level. If the information doesn't come through you then it will come through another or perhaps not at all for the 'time' being. If you are going out and having cocaine binges with prostitutes then you might have something that is a little (or a lot) out of balance. If you are more worried about losing your followers as opposed to getting out the proper material then you are doing things for the wrong reasons. You may need to check yourself, take some time away, go within and get things more on track, come to a clearer place and then once again venture forward. Go on a walkabout. The term 'walkabout' is used in Australian Aboriginal societies and has spread throughout the world. Traditionally it was used as a rite of passage. However, there are many reasons for going on a walkabout. If you are aware enough then you will know that it may be time to step away and clear things on a personal level. If you were not and were a disruption to the tribe then you were told to go on a walkabout. Those in a position of spiritual leadership should not have to be told for the most part and should do the honourable thing for all parties concerned and step down for a while or step away. People can respect that. If they cannot then that is there own issue or they may have been over invested in the person and not with the material that was taught. They will have to come to the conclusion that they can also find their own way through this and may have times where reliance on others might not be an option. It's all part of the path and journey. Don't get me wrong here... you can learn on the job. Infact, that is what we have all been forced to do since we have been in a state of forgetfullness in regards to the totality of who we truly are and what we can do. People make mistakes. Plain and simple. Sometimes things don't work out. It can be very easy to get caught up in the illusions, pitfalls and traps that surround us and are laid out before us everyday. Just own up to it and care. As a teacher, leader or 'guide', you have a tremendous amount of responsibility to disseminate information to the best of your ability and knowledge at the time, with openess and ackowledgement that there are most likely many levels beyond it. When searching for people to work with or learn from, look for practical application rather than being caught up in the mess of terminology and technical aspects that simply lead you around in circles or keep the old paradigm of manipulation locked in place. Kind of a side note here is that for the most part anything that can be taught can be brought back around to personal growth or something that benefits everyone. For example, I was a bartending instructor at one point. I taught students about situational awareness, how to read people and for flair bartenders I demonstrated how to be ambidextrous and to use spatial awareness so as not to hit your fellow staff members or parts of the bar. Teaching them how to use colour, taste and smell as part of the presentation for the cocktail concoctions they created to make it a form of art. Martial arts can be brought back to body awareness and that of reading others and their immediate environment as opposed to ego competition and learning how to 'kick ass'. The latest scientific or medical breakthroughs... how can these be used for the benefit of all and not be damaging to the environment, the human population or other species. Even these articles, I will always provide patterns for you to become aware of. Educate the masses on things that you believe in and that can help to uplift humanity, not something that keeps it trapped as a slave race. There are many highly evolved beings on the planet who don't have super powers at this time and infact might even be very damaged in their body, field or in other ways due to how they came here or for various other reasons. Powers do not always equate to evolution of the being in question. On some level these people may have embodied more of their being, there can be darker forces at work or their DNA is not as damaged but realize that sometimes these 'powers' are a trap as you can get stuck there or believe that you have 'arrived'. Another point of note is that the number of PhD's or certificates on one's wall, or belts of recognition they may have does not make one a better teacher or more learned in relevant information for the evolution of all, at times not even in their own fields. Sort of an ending pattern that you may notice is there may be ego squabbles as to who is getting closest to the teacher/guru or who is to become their successor. You will see these petty quarrels playing out especially in areas like spiritual organizations but some of the worst I have seen is in the martial arts community. It is definitely not a pretty or harmonius scene. Sometimes things do fall into place with a natural leader but people must remember that each person adds a unique twist or different flavour to what is being presented. Sometimes there is no successor or no need for one as that teacher fullfilled their mission in a sound and complete manner so that it can be added to in future generations. People may have been fortunate enough to come along for the ride and no one could or is meant 'replace' them. We all have a role to play and depending on what you are teaching sometimes the teacher can learn from the student. Keep an open mind to things as new information is continually coming about yet much can be gleaned from your own access to 'informational fields'. Gurus and teachers can be wonderful beings that help to support others on a personal level and also uplift humanity as a whole. We have had many throughout history, including many off-world beings who have assisted in breakthroughs that advance humanity well beyond where it was currently at. We are all students and teachers participating in this adventure. Keep adding high vibrational thoughtforms to the consciousness of humanity and tapping into those that are around us. Follow your own path. Your path may be leading you to work with a specific team of beings under contract yet you are still taking different steps to that destination. Everyone carries a piece or the expression of 'Source' and therefore a way back can be achieved, no matter how much we have been tricked, mislead or damaged, intentionally or not. It may require assistance, and that is okay but through the 'will' and correct knowledge you can carry out your task. Teach and lead by example. Be that bright light to show others the way.
